Hi, I am the coach and founder here at MDT Strength. I’m an all around strength enthusiast, competing in Powerlifting and the occasional Highland games. I used to play rugby for a few different men’s teams and in college for Middle Tennessee State University. Which is also where I earned my bachelors in exercise science. I’ve been a fitness coach for 6+ years now working with a wide variety of clientele. From everyday folks who just want to feel better or shave off a couple of pounds, to athletes looking to take their performance to the next level. When I’m not at the gym or working with clients, I’m usually at home relaxing with my wife and cats.

The MDT way

MDT stands for Multi-Disciplinary Training. The fitness industry has a nasty habit of dividing training methods into boxes that belong to different “brands” of fitness. Want to get stronger on the squat and bench? Well that’s powerlifting. Want to build muscle and get toned? Well that’s body building. Maybe you want to feel good in your day to day life. Well that’s functional fitness.

The message that tends to get spread is that you can only choose one. You can either: get stronger, feel better, or build muscle.

What I’ve learned over the years is that the training methods from all disciplines in fitness can benefit each other. You can in fact have it all. To be married to one specific brand of fitness is to put a handicap on oneself. All training methods are valid to some degree, and in most cases pulling ideas from several disciplines is the key to achieving great progress.

The MDT way is simple. Use all the tools and knowledge at our disposal, and not limit ourselves by stubbornly adhearing to a single brand of fitness.
